Community Events

To submit information for the community calendar, e-mail calendar@wnradio.com , fax 1.810.985.7712, or send your information in the mail to 2865 Maywood Drive, Port Huron, MI  48060.

The community calendar is a no charge service for special events for legal non-profit organizations.  Information must be submitted in writing, at least 3 weeks before the event.  The radio stations reserve the right to edit and/or decline information submitted to the community calendar.   Because of FCC rules, we are not able to include fund raising activities on air but can be considered for our website calendar.



September 5
The First United Methodist Church of Marlette will be holding a Chicken and Ham Dinner along with a silent auction fundraiser for Colin Hobson. The dinner and auction will be held on September 5 from 4:00- 7:00 pm. The cost is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children 5 and under, and $25 for a family of 5.

September 6
The New Covenant Church of God in Port Huron is having a Free Food Truck Party on September 6th starting at 11:00 am. There will be an obstacle course inflatable, cotton candy, hot dogs, face painting, and more! Bring the whole family and enjoy this free event. 

September 8
DivorceCare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. The program helps people face challenges and move toward rebuilding their lives. DivorceCare meets from 6:00- 8:00 pm every Monday at Colonial Woods Missionary Church. New sessions begin on September 8th. For more information or to pre-register you may call 810.984.5575

September 9 
Central Lakeport United Methodist Church is having a Christian Open Mic and Hymn sing on Tuesday, September 9th at 7 pm. 

Croswell Wesleyan Church will be having Grief Share every Tuesday evening from 6:00- 8:00 pm starting September 9th. The 12 week program features biblical, Christ-centered teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one.


September 10
The Lakeport Wesleyan Church will hold a Fall Kickoff on September 10th. They will be kicking off the year with an evening of crazy games and a competition for youth from 6th- 12th grade, as well as fun games and activities for kids Kindergarten- 5th grade. Croswell Wesleyan Church is hosting a Back to School Car Bash on Wednesday, September 10th from 6:30- 9:00 pm at The RocK in Croswell. All students from 5th- 12th grade are invited. there will be inflatables, free Taco Bell, Buffalo Wild Wings, and prizes. 

The Sarnia Christian Women's Club will be meeting at Huron Oaks on September 10th at 9:30 am. The guest speaker will be Liz La Via. You can reserve a spot by emailing the club at sarniacwc@hotmail.com.

September 11th

The Colonial Woods Counseling Center will be offering GriefShare on Thursdays from 7:00- 8:30 pm beginning on September 11th. GriefShare is a support group for those who are grieving a loss due to death. For more information you may call the Counseling Center at 810.984.5575

Widowed Care is a support group for those who have lost a spouse through death. It is a group for processing grief in a supportive environment. The group will meet at the Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron on Mondays from 7:00- 8:30 pm starting on September 11th and will run for 10 weeks. Bridge Builders Counseling and Mentoring invites you to their Annual Fundraising Banquet, "Mentoring Matters" on Thursday, September 11th at Fore Lakes Golf Club. Dr. John Sowers, Founder of the Mentoring Project will be the guest speaker. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the office at 810.987.8772

St. Clair County Community College's Thursday Noon and Night Concert Series for 2014-2015 will open with a performance on September 11th by the Lexington Bach Strings Quartet in the Fine Arts Theatre on the college's Port Huron Campus.


September 11-13
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett is holding their 20th Annual Rummage Sale on September 11th- 13th. The sale will be held on Thursday, September 11th and Friday, September 12th from 9:00 am- 7:00 pm and on Saturday, September 13th from 9:00 am- Noon. September 11- October 30th

Lamotte Missionary Church in Marlette is offering "Centershot Archery" that introduces kids and adults to both archery and Jesus. September 13
The Blue Water Pregnancy Care Center invites the community to participate in the 17th annual Walk For Life. The two-mile Walk-For-Life will take place at the Pine Grove Park in Port Huron on September 13th beginning at 9:00 am. Proceeds provide free services to our community's underprivileged mothers and fathers.

Shiloh Ministries is having a Ladies Day on September 13th from 10:00 am- 3:30 pm in Wallaceburg. Come and join for a time of refreshing praise and fellowship with Penny Cooper from Anchor Ministries. The cost is $15 and all ladies are asked to pre-register by September 6th. First Baptist Church in Port Huron will be having a Mum sale, Chili Luncheon, and Treasures for Cash event on Saturday, September 13th from 8:00 am- 2:00 pm.

North Street United Methodist Church is hosting a Flea Market and Bake Sale on Saturday, September 13th from 9 am to 3 pm.  The church is located at 4580 North Road in North Street.  All proceeds will go to the Blue Water Rescue Mission.

The Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International of Sarnia will be hosting a breakfast gathering on Saturday, September 13th at 9:00 am. The breakfast will take place at the Bridge restaurant in Point Edward, Sarnia.


September 14
Peter Sparrow from Creation Ministries International will be at the Sarnia Evangelical Missionary Church on Sunday, September 14th starting at 10:30 am. The title of the presentation is "Genesis: Foundation of the Bible and Life." Everyone is welcome to this event. 

Cross Current Church in Port Huron is having a Girls Night Out on Sunday, September 14th from 6:00- 8:00 pm. All women in the community are invited for a night of worship and connection.

Zion United Methodist Church in Capac is having a Fall Family Fun Fair on September 14th from 12:30- 5:00 pm. Come out for a pig roast, carnival games, petting zoo, and many more family friendly activities. 


September 16-November 4
Trinity Anglican Church in Sarnia is hosting ALPHA on every Tuesday from 6:00- 9:00 pm starting September 16th and ending November 4th. ALPHA is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith, brush up on the basics of the faith or introduce a friend to Christianity. There is no fee for ALPHA but you must register by sending an email to trinity@trinity.sarnia.net or register online at trinity.sarnia.net. September 16

Bethel Pentecostal Church in Sarnia will be having a Grief Share program starting on September 16th and running for 13 weeks. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most difficult times.


September 19
St. Clair County Community College will offer a free Art Night for ages 14 to 30 on Friday, September 19th from 6:00 pm- Midnight. Art Night will include free hands-on workshops in art, music, and theater taught by local artists and will be held on SC4's Port Huron campus. September 20
The ladies of "Rejoice" and friends will present a benefit concert to aid a 
mission trip to the Hopi Indians of Kykotsmovi Village, Arizona. The concert will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 7:00 pm at Ross Bible Church in Port Huron. There is no charge for the concert but a love offering will be received.

Lighthouse Baptist church is having a Back to School Bash on September 20th from 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. There will be a bounce house, competition games, food, and lots of fun!


September 21
The Lexington United Methodist Church presents the Kingsway Quartet in concert on Sunday, September 21 at 6:00 pm. 

The Moore Museum in Mooretown, Ontario is having a Craft Show on September 21st from 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. There will be over 80 tables as well as a refreshment booth. Admission for adults is $2 and free for children.

September 21- 25
Lighthouse Baptist Church presents "Strengthen The Things Which Remain starting on September 21st and ending September 25th. Revival preacher Brother Max Alderman will be the speaker for the week. For more information, you may call 810.300.7514


September 22
Bethel Pentecostal Church in Sarnia is offering an ALPHA course to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, friendly, fun, non-threatening setting. September 23
The International Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions for the 2014-2015 season on September 23rd from 6:30- 7:30 pm in the SC4 Fine arts building in Port Huron. 


September 26

September 29 

DivorceCare classes will begin on Monday September 29th at 6:30 pm at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Sarnia. The program runs for 13 weeks and is open to anyone who is separated or divorced. For more information or to register, please contact the church office at 519.542.773 

The International Symphony Singers will be holding auditions for their 2014- 2015 season: "Sounds Sublime." The auditions will take place on September 29th from 6:30- 7:30 pm at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Sarnia. 


October 11

October 25-26
 
Christian songwriters Don Besig and Nancy Price will be leading a choral workshop at Grace United Church in Sarnia on October 25th from 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. October 31- November 2 
Beginning Experience will be having their fall weekend program on October 31st- November 2nd at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Sarnia. Beginning Experience is a peer ministry led and run by volunteers who have suffered a loss and have found hope for themselves and wish to help others who feel alone in their grief. November 15
Wadhams Baptist Church will be hosting a special conference on November 15th. Everyone is invited, and the focus will be encouragement for the widowed, widower, and divorced. There will be local speakers as well as speaker and Christian recording artist, Sarah Scheiber. The conference will be from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm with lunch provided.
